Time For Action - Contact Your Servants To Reform Banking

The following politicians must be targeted with regular emails, phone calls and meetings. BRN has helped put together an effective lobby group. It is now critical to use people power to bring justice & fairness to the finance sector and to rescue our democracy, rights & freedoms from those that seek to expand the corrosive and intrusive power of the state.

We suggest every LNP cabinet member connected to the various finance portfolios must be contacted from day one right up until justice is achieved.

What reforms do we want?

We want all public servants to serve up some justice for citizens. The above politicians and their offices must support the country and the people by advocating for the following:

1). A properly bank funded remediation program for victims of bank crimes and misconduct. Proper funding does not have a cap.

2). Legislation that ensures bankers involved in crimes are stripped of their assets and face jail terms where appropriate.

3). A Banking Code Of Conduct that is fit for purpose. ASIC must review the latest version and make critical amendments - preferably before it comes into force on 1.7.19. ASIC has allowed the Australian Banking Association to manipulate the code and its compliance monitoring apparatus to virtually make it impossible for bank victims to receive justice. This is in Treasurer Josh Frydenberg's court. There is no way ASIC will remedy the code without Frydenberg's approval (contact him right now about this issue). The Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) also has been similarly neutralised as an effective pathway to proper remediation [Bank warrior Phil Sweeney is our AFCA specialist - email: victimsofAFCA@gmail.com ]

4). The establishment of an Australian sovereign wealth fund.*

5). The establishment of a national bank.* A key stepping stone is breaking up the banks with Glass-Steagall type laws and ending bank bail outs and bail ins.

6). The gradual implementation of a Citizenship Dividend which will guarantee a useful job to every citizen.*

8). Political Donation Reform – Individuals can only donate up to a maximum of $1,000 to one party of their choice. No foreign donations. No corporate donations. All donations collated and listed in real time by the AEC.

9). Political Advertising – Every candidate that runs for election should have a webpage on the AEC website. On that page there can be a video explaining their policy and some notes. The parties and candidates do not run ads at all. The AEC runs ads in print, radio, TV and web portals that display the link to the site where the information can be found. Voters can visit the site to find out what the candidates stand for and offer.

10). A Federal ICAC … with teeth. Not the watered down and phony proposal put forward by the LNP.

11). A Bill of Rights & Responsibilities. Fundamental rights are critical to protect our freedoms and democracy. Governments must not be able to abuse, harass and lock up whistleblowers and journalists. Muzzling the media, limiting freedom of information, spying on citizens and using the police & military to intimidate concerned citizens is not tolerable to people that want to live in civilised freedom (see link below).

What next?

Regularly contact the above politicians and their key staff members. Organise meetings with them at Parliament House or their electorate office. Choose one or two of the above issues to discuss. Ask them to advocate for these with their colleagues. The best way for them to show they are serious is to support you and your issues in a speech or a media interview. That's how we gauge if they mean what they say. They must publicly commit to these sorts of reforms. Talk has always been cheap. We must see action from our representatives. Public displays of support and policy development followed by implementation is what citizens and voters must regularly see.

Also the bank AGM's will be targeted again this year. Two strikes and the Chair and Board can be sacked. All the banks are at risk of this if they don't embrace genuine reforms and wholeheartedly clean up the mess their predecessors left. ASIC, APRA, AFCA, The Banking Association and the Government must also be held accountable for the finance sector's abuse of Securitisation. This scandal has yet to be fully exposed but it has played a key role in the organised theft of homes, assets, farms, businesses and lives. Below is a superb document that comprehensively explains the issue. Kudos to Bertola & Bell for presenting it to the Impairment of Customer Loans Inquiry.

This is our country and our democracy. A politician will never give you what you want .... you have to grab it..!! Join in the movement for justice.
